Small Budget Vacations

Every summer when I was little, my family would take a summer vacation to a different city on the West Coast. Sometimes we would visit a buzzing metropolis like Los Angeles or Portland, but more often than not, we would end up in a quaint town that rarely experienced tourism. Odd as it may seem, it was these remote locations that I often enjoyed the most.

Instead of fighting our way through long lines or shuttling around the city to take in a few of the main attractions, each day we would explore some aspect of the city, which was usually a lake, forest or park. Not only did this give us an opportunity to meet local people and enjoy the exquisite nature and scenery of the Pacific Coast, but it was also cost-effective. Taking a jaunt on my skate buds around a city park is certainly less expensive than a day at Disneyland or Six Flags.

Skating Away From the Pack

My best friend in high school was always looking for ways to set himself apart from the crowd. It started by reforming his image; adding multiple piercings and being the first kid in school to get a tattoo. He was always looking for ways to stand out socially as well, erupting in class and constantly performing over-the-top antics.

One of his more subdued attempts to garner attention came in the form of his footwear. I was alarmed when he came to school one day wearing big, bulky black shoes; a total departure from his usual style. As we were walking down the hall, he suddenly started to glide away from me and I realized that he was wearing a kid skate shoe.

Create a Skate-based Fitness Plan

As anyone who’s tried running as a form of cardiovascular exercise would surely attest, the activity isn’t for everyone. Although the health benefits of running are beyond dispute, there’s no getting around the fact that it can take a serious physical toll on the body. The high-impact motion of feet repeatedly hitting hard pavement can make for an unappealing situation. Luckily, the skater bud offers a viable alternative.

These skate shoes offer people all the benefits of running – the cardiovascular workout and endurance training – while also spicing it up with some fun. When you go whizzing past a sweaty, exhausted jogger, you can’t help but feel grateful that the skate shoes are doing some of the work for you. It’s time to put all of the excuses aside; now there’s no reason to hold back from developing a beneficial fitness plan.

Telling the Kids to Not Hog all the Fun

At first, I bought the heel skates for my nephew; however, in order to test it, I strapped it on and zipped back and forth in the garage. I had a blast! Riding on the skate buds reminded me of my first time putting on a pair of roller skates and the exhilaration that I had in my heart.

Now my nephew and I ride around the park together and are working on a routine to show off to the neighborhood. Yeah, it might seem cheesy, but there’s nothing better than remembering what’s it like to be a kid.

On the Darkest of Nights

Adults know that when their children play outside in the dark they are exposed to many more dangers than they would be in the daylight. But adults also know that it’s hard to get kids to come in from playing with friends. Why not meet your kids halfway? One way to do this is to get them a pair of lighted roller skates to replace their old ones.

Lighted roller skates will allow other people to see your kids when they’re outside after dark. You may also want to have your kids wear bright colors and reflective gear. There’s no reason to cut your kids’ nighttime fun. It never hurts however to enforce they take a few extra safety measures. A lighted roller skate is visible even during the darkest of nights.

Skate Your Hearts Out Kids!

Shopping for kids can be such a hassle. First of all, it seems like most of them already have everything they could want. Original ideas are so hard to come by. Fortunately, shopping online exposes gift givers to many more options then they ever imagined possible.

Kids have always loved to roller skate, but these days roller skates are becoming outdated. Kids don’t want gifts from the past — they want exciting new toys that no one else has. Skater buds are a great gift option for picky kids. They offer children all the fun of roller skating but instead of fitting over the entire foot, they secure neatly to the shoe, allowing for easy put on and take off.

The first recorded years of roller skates was in 1743 in London. The skate was used as a stage performance. 17 years later John Merlin designed an inline skate with metal wheels.

By the 1880’s roller skates were being massed produced in America. Skates usually come in two different varieties, quad roller skates and inline skates or blades.
